What is the PLA Charter of Parenthood? The PLA Charter of Parenthood is a set of beliefs and commitments that help us maintain the integrity of our membership and provide focus in our mission. All members of the PLA must pledge to hold the following beliefs to be true and honor the commitments set forth below: Beliefs: ● Adherence to the knowledge and belief that God created the parent and parenthood as the fundamental social infrastructure for the advancement of His eternal purpose in Christ and the Church ● An understanding that copulation to procreate is therefore God’s facility in the parents for generating the human being whom he would spiritually give birth to and be formed in Christ as a member of his body, his flesh and bones, hence his bride ● Parents are God’s portal for the entrance of the child into the world ● Parents are therefore God’s primary ministers for the child’s early childhood development and Christian formation, into their young adulthood ● Parents are God’s stewards of the child. As such, the child belongs to God, as well as the parental rights to the child Commitments: ● As the primary ministers of God, parents commit to parenting the child to have a formed personality in the identity God has given to the Church (to be the body and the bride of Christ) and a formed lifestyle of God’s influence in their day-day decisions and choices, as modeled by Christ ● Parents commit to a routine set of scheduled activities they are to do to and with the child for the formation of their developmental assets (mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and behaviorally) in bearing and living out the identity God had set for the Church, (to be the body and the bride of Christ), and the lifestyle of a strong personal influence of God in the management of their day-to-day decisions and choices, as modeled by Jesus Christ ● Parents commit to a teamwork practice of parenting with the spouse (where it applies), for the early childhood development and Christian formation of the child, from the womb into their young adulthood ● Parents protect their children by shaping/forming/conditioning the mental, emotional, and the behavioral assets in their Christian formation, that would insulate or barbed them from the influence of the increasing social degeneracy of our time Parents commit to continuous education for enhancing their competency and leadership as the primary ministers of God for the parenting of their children – a response to 2 Timothy 2:15
